Deep hails from West Bengal, India, where he spent his formative years. He obtained his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Burdwan University. Following this, he embarked on doctoral research at Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai (IIT Bhilai) under the mentorship of Prof. Arup Mukherjee, concentrating on the exploration of the versatile reactivity of amine-boranes in homogeneous organic transformations.
He began his position as postdoctoral researcher in February 2026 in the laboratory of Prof. Sukbok Chang. His ongoing research explores functionalization of un-activated C-H bond of hydrocarbons enabled by transition metal catalysis.
Away from the research bench, Deep is deeply passionate about cricket, soccer, long tennis, enjoying the game both on the field and as an ardent follower. He also finds creative fulfillment in reading and listening Bengali novels, which serves as a refreshing counterbalance to his scientific work.
