Animesh was born and raised in West Bengal, India. He completed his integrated BS–MS degree at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Kolkata (IISER Kolkata) in 2019. He then pursued his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Biplab Maji at IISER Kolkata, where his research focused on developing new C–H functionalization reactions using palladium catalysis.
In December 2025, Animesh joined the research group of Prof. Sukbok Chang as a postdoctoral researcher. His current work centers on transition metal-catalyzed asymmetric C–H amination reactions.
Outside the laboratory, Animesh is an avid cricket enthusiast—both as a viewer and a player—and enjoys expressing his creativity through painting.
